Most people think of pests as being rodents and roaches that invade your home and come into direct contact with you. But, there is a whole subsection of pest types which never come inside but still do damage to you nonetheless. These pests exist in your law and bushes and survive by consuming your beautiful grass and flora.
We discussed the matter with a lawn pest service in Rockledge Florida to further learn about the pests which cause this kind of damage. Here is what they said.
They mentioned that worms, grubs and insects can be the most sinister of lawn pests because much of what they do is underground or unseen. They feast on roots of grass, plants and trees to stay alive. Meanwhile, your yard is dying and you are clueless as to why.
When looking at a full list of grubs and worms in Florida, you can see why they are a problem. There are many species all competing with one another to feast on your beautiful grass and plants and even the weeds.
Southern Masked Chafer (Cyclocephala lurida). The main cause of lawn damage are these common grubs, which have a whitish color.
Japanese Beetle (Popillia japonica). Despite being less common, these beetles are distinguished by their copper-colored and metallic green wings. It is simple to differentiate their C-shaped larvae from other grubs.
May/June Beetles. Although these creatures are not as well-known as others, they can damage ornamental and ground-level plants with their reddish-brown grubs.
Ox Beetle (Strategus Antaeus). Compared to other species, these grubs are more noticeable because they can reach a length of 2 inches. They are typically found in sandy soils.
This list of grubs doesn’t even include all the worms, insects and rodents that also feed on your living plant life. Moles, voles, and various other warm-blooded rodents burrow through your yard and destroy the root system. Removing them from the equation is absolutely necessary to having a beautiful lawn and bush display.
